Yoga Workshop - April 3rd - 5pm

Yoga Workshop - led by Grace O’Brien - April 3rd - 5pm

We all know yoga is old and mystical, but did you know that it also cures disease? (scurvy only) Grace O’Brien knows. She will be leading all who are interested through basic yoga poses and technique, including how to casually mention to acquaintances that you are totally into yoga.

The workshop is only $10, will be relaxing and fun, and includes an authentic Autotelic Gallery unitard. So come stretch out and relaxify your tired, battered bodies. You deserve it!

RSVP to Figure Drawing!

We hope this update finds you all well! Don’t forget, this upcoming Sunday (March 27th) Autotelic Gallery is hosting its figure drawing workshop at 5pm. This class will be led and lectured by world-famous, super cool, life-drawing guru Andi Crist. Crist is also the co-owner and operator of Autotelic Gallery (so you know she knows what’s up) and has an art-making practice based out of the Autotelic studios around the corner. You can find more information about her work at her website, or come meet the Autotelic gang this coming Sunday! Don’t forget to bring you sketchpads…

The class will cover the basics of life drawing, rendering and technique. We will have several live models, both male and female. Autotelic Gallery will provide some drawing utensils, charcoal, erasers and easels for those that prefer to draw large. The Figure Drawing course is $15 which includes basic materials and supplies. Class starts promptly at 5pm!  RSVP to reserve a seat!

RSVP to our Physical Comedy & Performance Workshop

As per usual, our workshops are led by some of our favorite local Chicago artists, musicians and friends. Jesse Kegan and Alexander Knapp are no exception to this rule, and they are ready to rock the house and get Autotelic reeling with some tips on physical expression, performance art theory and of course, music. This meeting, like most of our workshop gatherings, is a preparatory session for the exhibition in April. Folks interested in participating in this workshop will earn the right to some play time at the Happy Springtime Funshow and grab the opportunity to show their stuff (and work) to a broad spectrum of gallery visitors, friends and family. So grab your uke and stretch those glutes, we’re gunna get down.

Accepting work for: Happy Springtime Funshow!

Autotelic Gallery is hunting down artists for their salon-style spring show the evening of April 23rd, 2011.

If you participated in one of our spring workshops, you may exhibit in our spring show for free! Otherwise, there is a $25 fee to exhibit work. We are accepting all forms of art and media, as the entire show will be curated as a giant collage of work by local and regional artists. Autotelic Gallery will facilitate vending and participating artists keep 100% of sale price; Autotelic will take NO commissions. This is a great opportunity for newly showing and experienced artists to participate in a large-scale group exhibition.

Exhibit work in the Happy Springtime Funshow.

RSVP to our Screenprinting Workshops!

Autotelic is continuing its workshop series… Next up, screenprinting!

At 5pm both Sunday February 27th and Sunday March 6th, local artist Nick Ernst will be leading Autotelic’s screenprinting sessions. These are non-consecutive classes, so you may attend only one of the two! A $20 cover pays for the class (basic screen preparation, exposure and printing) and basic supplies and materials. We encourage everyone to bring their own screens and paper, but we do have a limited amount of screens that we will be renting to attendees that can’t bring their own.

**SCREEN POLICY**

Although we encourage all of the students of the screenprinting workshop to bring their own screens, Autotelic will provide screens for anyone who cannot bring their own. It should be noted however that students will not be permitted to remove screens from Autotelic studios unless they provide a valid state ID and put down a $20 deposit for rental. The $20 deposit will be reissued to the renter when the screen is returned undamaged. If the screen is not returned by midnight April 30th, the deposit will not be returned.

Also note: Autotelic is only providing materials within the confines of the workshop setting. Materials such as screens, emulsion, paper, or printing ink will not be issued “to-go.” Students are of course welcome to make as many prints as they wish during the workshop and take home any prints made. These materials will all be available on Open Studio Days which are all-day Saturday April 9th and Saturday April 16th. Studio time may be made by appointment if students do not wish to rent screens. You may schedule a studio time by contacting info@autotelicgallery.com. A studio rental fee of $10 will be charged and all materials and supplies will be provided for one (1) full day.

Anyone who attends these workshops will have the opportunity to show the final products of their work in a large scale exhibition at Autotelic Saturday April 23rd. We encourage everyone to come learn and share work with other creative Chicagoans and take advantage of the chance to be a part of a group show (and potentially make some $$!). RSVP’ing to the workshops is essential, if slots fill up you may not be granted space in the class if you don’t rsvp ahead of time. Also—-PLEASE SHOW UP ON TIME. Class will start promptly at 5:30.
